So Desi has started a running theme in his blog called Fondest Memories. He's posted one about music. If you have any musical memories, feel free to comment here!
"In times of old, parents had to take responsibility for raising their own children and educating them, but they also got to enjoy whatever dividend that created, in the form of young children who could help out on the farm and grown children that could support them in old age….[Now that this is often no longer the case,] it makes parenthood into a kind of suckers' game. The shrewd and rational thing is not to have children. Let other people have children and then let them pay for your pension and health care and old age."

Unfortunately, it's a good point!! We have here a dangerously low birth rate and are being forced to rely on immigration to maintain our population.
It's no wonder.
The nuttiness of April surpassed even those of the ones before!
I found that the knocking noise in my wall was in fact not a family of mice but a chickadee trying to make himself at home in the stucco.

We plugged up the hole and he came back sad so we tried to give him a new home. But he wasn't interested.
There was some Spring cleaning to be done.![]()
Sebastien finished up his skating. (It was unbelievable how well he learned to carve ice on two blades with such joy! I'm just a little girl from Louisiana and balancing on skates is a challenge for me and not altogether fun.)
He's so athletic and this was a perfect vehicle for him. He has no fear or lack of confidence. He scores goals every time out and blocks the toughest balls in the net!! It's amazing. (As a side note, I'll admit that when Sebastien played last year all he wanted to do was chat up every kid on the field. Ball, what ball??)
Parker had had to miss the first day of soccer because he was still wearing his neck brace from when he fell back from a few feet and smacked his T2 vertebrae on the corner of the landscape edging in the back yard.
Then a couple of days later Desi did this with a nail gun while balancing up on 2nd floor trusses.

And I had mad amounts of paperwork to do. General T1's times two to file our personal taxes, sorting and inputting all the receipts into a spreadsheet to get caught up on the business quarterly GST filings… YUCK!!
Anyone wanting a glimpse into Louisiana politics, specifically New Orleans should check out this post. And he must be a photographer because I can’t believe his pictures. He made me cry. The rascal!
My mom is still living in a pool house awaiting the completion of her rebuilt home. It’ll be a while yet.
But in brighter news I just found out that she will be flying up to Canada for a visit this summer!!! Imagine the food at this year’s annual Louisiana Party!!! JUST IMAGINE…
March never let up, either.
Desi wrapped up his time in Africa. ![]()
He preached one Sunday and did so well the pastor ordained him.![]()
And then took the team on a safari. ![]()
He finished his time there going to a conference and then touring around to see what others are doing to help the people there. This is where he fell in love with a little girl in an orphanage that we would have adopted if we could have.
February got really busy. The kids kept a brave face while we hurried around.
Desi flew off for South Africa. Updates and information on their trip are still found here.
Sebastien rocked at skate practice!
The boys and I enjoyed some winter fun ![]()
while dad sweat in Africa. ![]()
And I was busy doing paperwork: Preparing T4s and the WCB return.
